Good Bye Families!
As we end the 2019-2020 school year, I’d like to take a moment and thank you for all your support over the past school year. Thank you for all the hard work and many hours you have contributed, as well as all the generous donations you have made to the JBS PTA.
Although our school year was cut short, we had already raised over $10,000 by February towards our treasury, meeting our goal of raising at least $9,000 for the school year. We had a series of successful PTA events such as the Fall Festival, Fall Fun Run, JBS Holiday Float, Winter Bazaar and the incredible Someone Special Dance which I know many of you will never forget! These memories will always be special to me; I hope we provided some fun family memories for you during this school year.
The past few months have been difficult for many of us and we were disappointed that our end of year activities never came to fruition. I’m sad to see the school year, as well as my time here at JBS come to end this way, but I’m grateful for all the relationships and memories I’ve made over the years. I hope you too will come away from this school year with some gratitude and great memories as well.
As for the future, no one knows what we can expect of the next year school. Unfortunately, we don’t know what the CDC guidelines will be and there is a lot of uncertainty. This makes planning next year more challenging than ever. Although Gary Williams and I will no longer be with the JBS PTA next year, we know it is in good hands with our Vice President, Cristy Cantu. She will undoubtedly lead the JBS PTA with a culture of inclusion and is looking forward to working with all of you during this unprecedented time. Together, we know you’ll discover innovative ways to keep supporting the JBS Community and become stronger than ever! Volunteer when you can and support the JBS PTA in any way you’re able to. If we have learned anything from this time, it is how quickly things can change and that we shouldn’t take anything for granted. Please feel free to reach out to either myself or Cristy Cantu if you have any questions or need any additional information.
I enjoyed serving as your JBS PTA President this school year and I appreciate all the support I received from all JBS PTA members, Dr. Clark, as well as all the great parents, faculty and staff at Sliney school. Although we were cut short, we did have a lot fun while it lasted!
