About – JBS PTA

Welcome Sliney Families to the 2020-2021 School Year!

Dear Sliney Families,
As we look to the start of the 2020-2021 school year, there are many unknowns. But in times of great uncertainty, a sense of hope emerges when communities come together under a common goal.

The John B. Sliney PTA’s mission is to assist in helping every student realize their potential by engaging and empowering them, their families and our teachers to work together for all our children and their future.

As a PTA, we are committed to fostering a sense of unity among families, staff, and our entire Sliney community. And no matter what this school year will look like, we are committed to ensuring that that every single student, family and teacher feels that sense of community, connection, love and support from JBS every single day.

We want JBS to be a place where everyone is welcomed, loved and supported. Where everyone’s perspective and ideas are not only heard, but respected. Where we all work together to provide our children with a strong and well-rounded educational foundation.

The PTA is here to support the Sliney community and thrives best when families are engaged. We are so grateful to have such an amazing and supportive body of parents and are always happy to welcome new faces. Without volunteers, our work literally would not be possible, so THANK YOU to our returning volunteers and families! And WELCOME to our new ones, we cannot wait to meet and grow with you!

This year at Sliney, our PTA will look much different while we try to fundraise for things like Teacher Appreciation Week, Fourth Grade Celebrations, Virtual Cultural Arts, and hopefully a Field Day at the end of the year. While we are not able to have our big events that set Sliney apart, we hope to find other ways to make everyone feel together and included. Just because we cannot be close physically, does not mean we cannot come together as one.

My fellow PTA officers and I look forward to meeting and hearing from you. This year may be challenging and uncomfortable, but together, we can make it fun and memorable.

All my Best,
Ashley Murphy
JBS PTA President
